Recommendations

  • Outback Steakhouse should cut out breakfast altogether during the week since they only open at 11 am which is almost lunch time and flexibility is their last competitive priority so variety isn't much of an issue but keep it open on the weekends.
  • Improving waiting time will greatly increase both customer satisfaction and revenue since more customers will be attended to.  This can be achieved by each waiter or waitress to attend to more than 3 tables at a time but perhaps 5 or 6 tables at a time to get the process going a bit quicker.
  • Placing a tablet at the tables will allow the customer to pay for the check without waiting on the waiter or waitress.
  • By placing these tablets, bussers would also know which tables are ready to be cleaned by looking for the green light on the tablet letting them know the check has been paid.  This will decrease confusion and help decrease waiting time.
  • They may be in over 1,200 locations, but their still opportunities in expanding to other locations since it's a well-known and liked steakhouse.
  • They to have moderate pricing that their current customer base are satisfied with but if they want reach additional types of segments they should have a wider variety in their pricing.
  • Their online service can be better advertised to the public as it is still not a very well-known service by most people.
  • With our culture shifting more towards becoming more health conscience, Outback Steakhouse should try making healthier options to appeal more towards an untapped customer base.
  • They could add a second happy hour from 9 pm to 10 pm in order to decrease the amount of waste produced from the overproduction created during the day.
  • Even though they do have online service, it isn't delivery and set the minimum ordering price to be $50 which can gain a whole other segment and take advantage of the fact of how lazy people can be.
  • In order to create a more accurate order, each waiter/waitress should have a pre-made skeleton or template that allows them to quickly take orders in an efficient manner.
